Stay hydrated: Good nutrition and good hydration help any athletic performance. So lots of clean pure water long before, during and after the event is smart. Nutrition is more complex. Some athletes "carb load" with complex carbs days before an event in order to maximize glycogen stores in the muscle- how much this helps I'm not sure. Don't forget your minerals- magnesium and potassium especially!!
