A member asked:

Bad chest pain. center of chest below ribcage.and the pain goes to my back. e.r. dr. said to quit smoking. i've never smoked?.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Forget the ER doc: Shame on the ER doc for not knowing you're a non-smoker. Pain in that location which radiates to the back is really more in the abdomen than chest. 2 concerns I would have are: pancreatitis and peptic ulcer. You need further eval. Please see your family doc or go to a different ER if you otherwise don't have access to care.
