Dust allergy?: Dust allergies are usually minimized by use of HEPA filters, frequent vacuuming and removal of dust collectors like stuffed animals, drapes, carpets and ceiling fans. The immune system of infants is generally not developed enough to mount a true allergy, and allergy medications are not approved for this age group. Excluding other causes for your baby's symptoms would be wise.

Too young for allrgy: The first months are troubled by narrow nasal passages & exposure to dust, fragrances, smoke & other irritants.Baby tries to flush these out of the nose with mucous but this often ends as congestion & produces rattling with breathing. The best rx is washing out the nose with saline & suctioning the remainder. Eliminate irritants from babies environment & this will happen less.
