Migrain eprophylaxis: Usually non selective beta blocker is preferred as the selective beta blockers works predominantly in the heart, non selective works in the peripheral blood vessels also.

Comments: While I do not favor beta blockers due to adverse effects, the 2 approved by FDA are propranalol and timolol. Alternative choices include calcium channel blockers, topirimate, and divalproex sodium.
