Good medicines for..: Few anti epileptic medications like for example Lyrica, (pregabalin) gabapentin, tegretol have been used with success for fibromyalgia. Tricyclic and other antidepressants like amytriptiline, Cymbalta can help with symptoms as well. In some people antiinflamtory meds and muscle relaxants can also provide relief. However, the mainstay of treatment is regular aerobic exercise at least 3-4 times a week.

TWO QUESTIONS: "Most effective" medicines for pain of fibromyalgia are Savella, (milnacipran) Lyrica & Cymbalta. Some doctors include Neurontin, Tramadol & Cannabis. Official speculation is that fibromyalgia is not a peripheral neuropathy, but altered central nervous system (brain) pain perception. Some doctors theorize fibromyalgia tender points & myalgias are sites of neurally generated pain, i.e., peripheral neuropathy.
