Most heal: If during acute period the surgery is avoided, then it takes few weeks for liver to heal. Some can get abscess, may develop fevers and jaundice while old blood being reabsorbed. If blood vessels and bile ducts grow together it can create bleeding into the gut. Also, depends if there was any associated injury. Hard to predict- but if surgery was avoided rest can be treated later.
