Spider angiomas: are found in distribution of the superior vena cava-- face, neck, upper part of trunk & arms & on the backs of hands & fingers in young children. Due to failure of the sphincteric muscle surrounding a dilated cutaneous arteriole.The dilation is caused by increased estrogen levels in blood as seen in pregant women, those on birth control, & with significant liver disease.
