Don't worry: The CEA is not a diagnostic tumor marker. It can be elevated with inflammation and after smoking or taking an enema. It is best used in monitoring when on treatment it rises or comes down suggesting response or lack of response. If in your case there is a significant rise, a one time CAT scan of chest abdomen might be indicated.
