Further Workup: Peak flow meter (PFM) measures the amount of airflow from the large airways of the lungs. Changes in airflow caused by the small airways (which also occur with asthma) will not be detected by a PFM. PFM is one of many tools to help manage asthma. First determine if you actually have asthma. PF measurements are not diagnostic of asthma. Get pulmonary function testing, exhaled NO by specialist first

PFR?: PFR may be used for monitoring but not for diagnosis since it is too effort-dependent. During the initial exercise, PFR may go up but often drops after about 10-15 minutes with exertion if you have asthma. I think the minimum workup requires a regular lung function test then go from there.
