A member asked:

Dad w/parkinson lets bodyx8yrs.now can't eat,talk,sleeping all day.barely responds.is this likely the end?can anymore be done.sleeps while being fed

A doctor has provided 1 answer

He should see his dr: Your dad should have a neurologist evaluating his response to treatment and adjusting medications as necessary. He could be referred to neurosurgery for deep brain stimulation. People with Parkinson's disease can have the same life expectancy as those w/o the disorder. I would suggest counseling &/or support groups for yourself as you adjust to your dad's progression of his illness.
