Good idea: Additionally I would apply ice to the knee. Also look into doing stretch and strengthening exercises of the knee.

Ice, Rest and Antiinflammatories: In general if there is pain only AFTER the activity, cryotherapy (ice/cold) 10-20min for 3-4 times should help. Make sure to avoid direct skin contact (frostbite) and take breaks in-between applications. With a young athlete, my first concern is overuse injuries. I recommend considering a period of rest (such as skipping a game/practices) to see if pain resolves. Since this injury is primarily inflammation, NSAIDs such as ibuprofen and naproxen (Aleve) are reasonable. But if your daughter needs Aleve after every event, it is time to consider extended rest or an orthopedic evaluation. You don't want to risk more severe injury.
