Yes: Polyps are internal so you would not be able to see them. Hemorrhoids are usually external (although they can be silghtly inside the rectum). If you have a mass or swelling on the outside of your rectum that does not go away after a few days you should see your doctor, as it is possible to have ano-rectal cancer.
