A member asked:

How do a hemorrhoid and a polyp differ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Cushion vs tumour: A hemorrhoid is an encouraged vascular cushion of the perianal tissues. A polyp is a true growth, a tumor or neoplasm, which arises from the inner lining of the gut, even the lining of the gallbladder. Colon polyps are removed so they don't evolve into colon cancer. Hemorrhoids are not tumors.
