Secondary Amenorrhea: has a number of potential causes, including: extreme weight loss or weight gain, significant emotional or physical stress, and excessive rigorous exercise. Thyroid dysfunction and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) are also common causes. If you are not pregnant and it has been more than 3 months since you had a period you should be evaluated to determine the cause. It is usually treatable.
