A member asked:

I was told i have elevated ana and that i have lupus. i then was diagnosed with celiac. does celiac cause elevated ana?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Autoantibodies: No. There are 4 types of antibodies. The type responsible for Celiac disease is an IgA whereas the ANA is an IgG. Of note, normal people can have elevated ANA. A diagnosis of lupus requires other confirmatory tests.
