A member asked:

Is occasional acid reflux/heartburn normal?(like once a month and only very slight). should i only be concerned if it becomes a constant problem?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No concern for now.: For occasional acid reflux symptoms (less than 2 times/week) you can just take over the counter medications as needed. There are some alarm symptoms to look out for. These include: chest pain, difficulty swallowing, age over 50, duration of reflux greater than 10 years, anemia and throwing up blood. If those are present, you should see a gastroenterologist.
