Difficult problem...: Recurrent or persistent BV is common, often very frustrating. Trichomonas causes similar symptoms and odor but responds to same antibiotics as BV (e.g. metronidazole), so probably not the problem. Preventive Rx may help, e.g. MetroGel® (expensive) or boric acid vaginal capsules (cheap). If your doc isn't familiar with these options, see a gyn with special interest in infectious diseases.
