Chondritis: Most probably irritation and inflammation in the cartilage portion of the sternum and ribs, it is benign, anti inflammatories are commonly used, If persist after couple of weeks have it checked out

R/O COSTOCHONDRITIS: You need to be examined have blood work and ekg. If you had a recent viral infection , you may have a post infection COSTOCHONDRITIS which usually responds to a course of prednisone with taper over 8dys.
