Try an antacid: It is possible that you are suffering from silent reflux. Stomach acid can move up your esophagus (throat) and into the back of your mouth. Irritation of your larynx (vocal cords) and taste buds can occur leading to hoarseness and altered taste. You can try a 2 week course of Prilosec otc. If no significant benefit then an ENT consultation is warranted.

Gargle: Gargle with salt water and rest your voice. Stop smoking if you are a smoker. If the symptoms do not go away within a week, see your doctor to make sure there is nothing serious or dangerous going on.
