A member asked:

What is laryngitis and how can it be caught?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Multple causes: Laryngitis is an inflammation of the vocal folds causing hoarseness. However, the term laryngitis is really a non specific term meaning hoarseness or roughness of the sound of the voice. As such, the causes of hoarseness are multiple and include infection, nodule, polyp, granuloma (gerd) and even tumor. The diagnosis can be found if a doctor looks at your larynx with a scope. It is not caught.
