Prior to travel,: I would suggest a chest radiograph to document complete resolution of the pneumothorax seven days prior to travel . The VATS procedure does lower your risk of another pneumothorax in that area, but your underlying bullae associated with your COPD should be checked prior to air travel. A pulmonary function test may also be ordered by your respiratory specialist.
