Fluid in ears. ent md recommended mucinex (guaifenesin). took for 36hrs straight without improvement. just not going to work?

Ear congestion rx: Mucinex (guaifenesin) is not as effective as other meds. If you have no contraindications such as hi bp or pregnancy, try an antihistamine plus phenylephrine.....such as Zyrtec plus D, or Claritin plus D. And chew gum as tolerated . this action helps eustacian tube drainage. Be patient.
