A member asked:

I have chronic dry skin from birth to current. how many times a day is it safe to use ammonium lactate 12% lotion. twice doesn't seem enough. any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Safe lotion: This is an alpha hydroxy-acid, which, as an exfoliant, removes dead skin cells from the stratum corneum and can act as an irritant to the epidermal layer causing edema and redness. Caution is advised with repeated use, but there is no direct toxicity of the lotion from repeated uses. Too many uses would likely cause skin breakdown, redness, swelling, and bleeding
