Perianal fistula: It is generally good advice to treat a perianal fistula when present. Under certain circumstances, a fistula could develop an abscess or result in infection throughout the body, known as bacteremia or sepsis, all of which can be serious. You should have your fistula evaluated. I would recommend seeing your doctor as soon as you can. Good luck.

Depends: If the fistula is draining, not painful, not infected, not causing breakdown of the surrounding skin, AND...you are OK with the problem...leave it alone. If it causes problems AND you are tired of dealing with it...then have it surgically treated.
