A member asked:

Are there any conditions associated with elevated glycine and low proline? symptoms are bloated stomach, egid, hypotonia, normal intelligence

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hyperglycinemia: There is a rare congenital defect of the renal tubules (filtering portion inside the kidney) that causes low body levels of both Gly and Pro due to excessive losses in the urine, but elevated glycine levels are usually related to a severe congenital disorder that can cause early death. If you know the child's serum levels of proteins there is a condition your PCP is trying to diagnose ?
