Ear infections: many children get ear infections when they are between 1-3. Typically they begin to outgrow them at this age. If the child is getting more than 5-6 ear infections per year, typically ear tubes are placed to reduce the number of infections and allow them to be treated with drops in the ear rather than more oral antibiotics. Frequent ear infections can affect hearing and speech development.
