Eustachian Tube: Could be Eustachian tube. This tube provides a pressure equalizer for the middle ear. If it is closed off the pressure in the middle ear is reduced. Moving, yawning, swallowing may open the tube for a second and air rushes up the tube into the middle ear moving the drum when it arrives. You hear this crackle when the drum moves. It usually resolves on its own.
