Unlikely: Potassium should not have a direct effect on sleep. We require potassium to live, and take in approximately 4,000mg of potassium per day in our food.If we are deficient in potassium, either from not eating enough of it or due to medications such as diuretics, cramps can occur which can adversely affect sleep. Potassium supplements can cause heartburn which can interfere with sleep if taken at night.
