Arthritis: Cervical spine refers to the neck. The facet joints are the joints in the back of the neck. They can develop a degenerative, arthritic change in them the same as you can get degenerative arthritis in the hip or knee. In the neck this can cause neck pain, headaches and crackling and popping with rotation.
