The sides of my throat has been red for almost 6 weeks now. i am very worried because i already went to the doctor and he said it was a small virus?

Six weeks is a long: time. Either go back to your doctor or seek a second opinion. Make sure you are not exposed to some irritant that is making it worse all the time.
