A member asked:

What exactly does complementary therapy do for cancer patients?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Lots of things: Complementary treatments for cancer range from acupuncture to guided imagery sessions. These treatments are not designed to take the place of mainstream medical treatments, but rather to augment the healing process. They can help people tolerate the side effects of treatment and improve overall outlook, a definite plus for healing. I practice mind-body medicine and use guided imagery a lot!
