Have you had a ESR?: a sed rate test. How old are you? A condition such as temporal arteritis should be considered. The definative test for this is a biopsy, but the chances that you have it are more likely if your ESR erythrocyte sedimentation rate is elevated. Lots of things can raise your ESR, so I high value could have lots of causes. Talk again with your Dr.

Temporal arteritis: Giant cell arteritis or temporal arteritis can manifest with the symptoms described. It can cause blindness and aortic aneurysm and dissection, so rapid diagnosis is important. It is treated with an oral steroid medication. However, a biopsy of the temporal artery is required to confirm the diagnosis.
