Lipoproteins: Vldl is a triglyceride (tg) rich lipoprotein produced by the liver. Prediabetes, type ii diabetes and Insulin resistance all increase production of vldl particles. Vldl particles are cleared by removing tg. This produces remnant particles that are further converted to LDL particles. Ldl particle number is significantly and independently related to cardiovascular risk, vldl particle number is not.
