Calories during pain: Pain places the body under stress. The heart rate generally increases along with blood pressure and anxiety and emotions. All these activities require additional energy and of course that energy must come for calories. The interesting question is where do the calories come from? Fat, carbohydrates, or protein. If we're sick, we don't want those calories to come from protein.
