Yes: Talk to your primary care physician or an md psychiatrist. There are two that can be used instead of benzodiazepines (xanax, ativan, klonopin) like Lexapro which is an antidepressant nut has anxiolytic effects (anti anxiety) or buspar (buspirone). The benzos are usually considered as a temporary medication. I also suggest therapy with a psychologist to reduce and manage the anxiety. Both approaches are best.

Agree w Dr. Delaney: Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors and Buspar (buspirone) are often used to treat anxiety.
