Regular Check ups: Do not smoke. Watch the blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol and body weight. Avoid salt and pain meds such as ibuprofen, naproxen and other such NSAIDs. Ask if new prescriptions are ok for the kidney. Do drink plenty fluids and exercise. Get a check up yearly and ask about your serum creatine result in your blood tests. It tells you about the kidney health. And watch for protein in the urine.
