A member asked:

Can children and teenagers safely take valaciclovir?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes, but...: Valacyclovir is approved for use in teens aged 13 and up, and has indications for some conditions in immunocompromised children as young as 2 years. However, it should be used ONLY with prescription, and with clear instruction and supervision by a physician. Furthermore, the conditions that this medication treats may be life-threatening in children and need to be managed/diagnosed by a physician.
