I have shingles and have been prescribed valacyclovir hcl, 1 gm 3x day. after a day and a half of this i have developed stomach discomfort and diarrhea. my question is this; can i take pepto bismol for relief? the label says not to give it to childr?

Valacyclovir rarely causes the symptoms you describe, but you can safely take pepto bismol, although taking the drug with meals may be equally or more effective. Good luck.
