How can you test for thyroid problems?

Usually blood tests: When there is a question of whether the thyroid is producing too little or too much hormone, blood tests will be ordered to determine the functioning of the thyroid gland. In the case of an overactive gland, a thyroid scan may be helpful. When there is a nodule or mass in the gland itself, ultrasound and fine needle aspiration are indicated in many cases.
