Injections: Certainly, but so can you, your husband, your family. I started giving my dear departed mother insulin injections daily beginning at age 8. Took some time to get used to but soon OK. FYI, in those days we checked blood sugar levels in the urine and the different colors had no effect on the dose. Not pleasant to do but turned out OK for me and Mum.
