In Neuroradiology,: caput medusae is a brain MRI finding that is essentially diagnostic of a developmental venous anomaly(DVA). The MRI appearance of the abnormal veins draining into a single vein is reminiscent of the snakes extending out of the gorgon Medusa's head in Greek Mythology.
