Coach or therapist?: Life coaching is a newer approach to helping people change. The distinction is cloudy but psychotherapy is treatment for problems that cause distress or impair you while coaching is for normal people who want to accomplish more. Therapy- medically necessary & covered by insurance. Coaching- optional & paid out of pocket. Coaching follows a sports model. I'm a therapist & I also use coaching.
