Work together: Over a very short period of time the incidence of autism has increased so significantly that genetics alone cannot be the explanation. Environmental influence on genetically susceptible individuals can explain the increase. There are thousands of subtle genetic differences that may only present clinically under certain environmental influences. Decreasing negative environmental exposures is key.
