Preop Protocol: Just like most surgeries: Nothing to eat or drink after midnight, etc. Some details may vary from one surgeon to another. For me, Strayer is a 20-minute outpatient procedure, and the patient is allowed to walk on their operative leg with walking boot for 2 weeks then stitches are removed followed by 4 to 6 weeks of physical therapy to transition regular shoes and activities.
