Immunoglobulin E: This immunoglobulin looks at the body's response to allergy or parasite. When the level is elevated, the body is either creating a reaction to a parasite or allergens. In this case, the level seems high (according to our standard numbers), so I would say he needs to be evaluated and treated for parasites and then his IgE will come down on its own! Good Luck

Allergy?: A high immunoglobulin E level indicate a high tendency to allergy to various factors. Why was the test done? Ordered by whom? If your primary care doctor ordered it but did not explain what it means, please ask for a referral to an allergist. If the specialist ordered it, I'm sure he/she will go over what it means and what needs to be done, depending on his symptoms.
