Why can some pills not be crushed when taking them?

Crushed medications: Medications vary depending on type, indication, manufacturing company among other characteristics. Typically if a medication is made to be a long acting or will disperse over a time period it can be dangerous to crush these medications. Many medications need special handling and your pharmacist is an excellent resource for most questions.
