In what era? : Maternal demise up to 3 days after delivery was often related to puerperal fever, a bacterial infection. Pre-eclampsia, hemorrhage, & cephalopelvic disproportion were other disastrous events. Caesarean Sections were often used for delivery immediately after maternal demise.
