Depends: Ct has very broad medical applications. Ct produces excellent pictures of the internal organs and can identify a vast range of abnormalities in most areas of the body. There are certain medical conditions for which other imaging tests may be better, but if performed in the appropriate context, ct scans are often the best test for making a definitive diagnosis.

Hard tissue: Ct scans are a form of x-rays. They are most appropriate to identify hard tissue structures like bone, teeth, other calcifications. Mri's are images (not x-rays) & better suited for evaluation of soft tissues, like organs, etc.
