Watchful waiting: Almost all "pink eye" is viral and does not need treated. However, it is very contageous. If you washed well before rubbing your own eyes, you should be fine. If however you develop symptoms of purulent discharge in just one eye or it spreads from one eye to the other, a physical exam will be needed.
