May be unrelated: The description of yellow coloring on the sides of the eyes is commonly an entity called a pingueculum which is a raised, yellowish patch often on both eyes. These are often more prevalent with age and sun exposure as well as genetics. In general, don't rub the eyes & try using more artificial tears drops. If any symptoms occur or the shape worsens or changes, then best to see your eye doc.
